Easy and delicious glazed tofu

I know tofu can be tough to like, if it’s not prepared and cooked properly. It indeed has a bland taste and a not so intriguing texture on its own. That’s why it needs some help! There’s, though, a special way to enjoy tofu, even if it’s not your favorite ingredient: glaze it.

So let’s see what we need and get things started.

Ingredients
1 block of tofu
3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
3 tbsp molasses
3 tsp miso
¼ cup soy sauce (low sodium)

Method
The first and most important step with tofu is to press it by wrapping it with a clean kitchen towel and putting something heavy on it for about half an hour. You need to do that to get rid of excess moisture that may interfere with the outcome.

Then you can cut it in small cubes, put it on some parchment paper, sprinkle olive oil and bake for about 10 minutes at 180°C (356°F).

While your tofu is being cooked, prepare the mixture for the glaze: mix 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil, 3 tbsp molasses, 3 tsp miso, ¼ cup soy sauce and mix. Get your tofu out of the oven, glaze it and bake for another 5 minutes.

Serve it with rice or quinoa and vegetables and enjoy a meal full of probiotics, fibre and protein.
